Jay-Z has urged the court to protect the innocent from being falsely accused as much as it protects victims. This comes as an unnamed woman who alleged that Jay-Z and Diddy raped her in the year 2000, drops the lawsuit without being paid a dime, according to Jay-Z’s lawyer.
The American rapper opined that the court should not allow individuals or groups who make false allegations about innocent people to go scot-free any longer, as he recounts the trauma he and his loved ones faced due to the alleged false accusation.
The rapper’s attorney, Alex Spiro, clarified that the woman voluntarily dropped the case on Friday after it dawned on her that the money grab was not going to work as she and her over 1-800 lawyers earlier envisaged.
Jay-Z’s lawyer hails him for doing what only a few can do, which according to him was to hold back and never settle anyone for a false allegation brought against him. “He pushed back, he never settled, he never paid one red penny, he triumphed and cleared his name,” Spiro said.
“The Jane Doe dismissing her case “with prejudice,” implies she cannot re-file the suit later on” he further clarified.
Jay-Z reacting to the lawsuit dismissal, wrote on X, “Today is a victory. The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed. This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere,”
“The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims. I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed” he added.
Recall that the lawsuit initially listed Diddy as the defendant but later added Jay-Z as a co-defendant.
Reacting to the dismissal, Diddy’s team in a press statement revealed that more cases against the singer will be dismissed in like manner. “Just like this claim, the others will fall apart because there is no truth to them,” the statement said.
The statement further claimed that Diddy has never taken advantage of anyone sexually or trafficked anyone as alleged in the cases against him. “Sean Combs has never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor. No number of lawsuits, sensationalized allegations, or media theatrics will change that reality. We will continue to fight these baseless claims and hold those responsible. This is just the first of many that will not hold up in a court of law.” the team added.
