Tyla becomes the second African artist to enter Spotify’s 1 Billion Song Club after Rema

South African music prodigy Tyla has recorded an incredible milestone in her career as her hit single ‘Water’ reaches 1 billion Spotify streams, becoming the second African artist to reach the height after Rema shattered the record in 2024 with his global smash hit ‘Calm Down’ featuring Selena Gomez.

Tyla has become the first African female lead artist to have her song clinch 1 billion Spotify streams.

The South African Diva has enjoyed tremendous success with her hit single “Water” which she released on July 28, 2023.

The song made its mark on the Billboard Hot 100, with the remix featuring Travis Scott reaching an impressive peak at No. 7 and remaining on the chart for 29 weeks.

The song also skyrocketed Tyla to global stardom as it has clinched her numerous accolades which include MTV EMA, BET, MTV VMAs and a Grammy prize for Best African Song Performance in 2024.

Since the release of Water by Tyla, she has tremendously gained international reputation and recognition and has become one of the biggest African exports whose music has won her fans globally.

Her debut album, ‘TYLA,’ included collaborations with notable artists such as Nigerian Grammy winner Tems, Jamaican sensation Skillibeng, and American rap star Gunna.

The album garnered lots of praise and lasted for over 15 weeks on the Billboard 200 where it peaked on NO. 24.
