Burna Boy may have to explain himself this one more time as media personality, Sade Ladipo, has described him as fake for allegedly using Pan-Africanism as a selling point for his brand.
According to Sade who spoke during a recent edition of the ‘Bahd & Boujee’ podcast hosted by Moet and Tolani Baj, the grammy-award winning singer and acclaimed African giant Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy is mostly mute when issues about Africa arise.
She argued that it was okay for the singer to make some gains off African narratives but that it was hypocrisy for him to not make any valuable contributions when issues arise about Africa despite claims of being a Pan-African.
Sade, while comparing the African giant to Davido and Wizkid added that Burna Boy is onlg using Africa to sell his brand to the diaspora and that she considers him fake.
She said: “Let me tell you my problem with Burna Boy, he is not authentic with what he is trying to sell.
“He says he is a Pan-African. He cares about the issues of Africa, he does that in his music a lot but then issues come up and boy is silent.
“Look at Bob Marley, look at Maria Makeba, look at Fela Anikulapo Kuti, they use their music and they use their voice.
“If you want to profit off of the music of Africa, that’s okay but that’s not been Pan-African. That’s why i love Wizkid and Davido,…
“Don’t come and tell me you are for Africa and African issue come up and you are mute. So i am sorry, he is a fake, he is using Pan-Africanism as a way to sell his brand to Abroad.”

In the full video which lasts over 1hour and 30minutes, Sade also spoke about Burna Boy’s last show in Lagos, Nigeria where he left fans waiting for over eight hours before he came on stage and how arrogant she considers him towards Nigerians and Africans at large.
Recall that fans who attended the show had reportedly lamented the poor organization of Burna Boy’s Love Damini show which held at the Eko Energy City by the coastal waters of the Atlantic Ocean in Victoria Island on the 2023 new year’s day.
Prior to the show, fans had anticipated to see their favourite perform some of his biggest hits of the outgoing year, 2022 but many were left in dismay as the singer only showed up several minutes past 3am for a show that was billed to start by 7pm and close at 11pm.
While at the venue, fans reportedly flared up and took to social media to express their frustrations but the singer whose show organizers failed to explain the reason for the delay until the eleventh hour when they attributed it to a technical hitch with their sound system, turned out to be the most upset when he eventually got on stage, throwing jabs at some fans who he claimed accused him of a shooting incident at a nightclub and also suggested his mother danced with Fela.
Burna Boy further explained that he had been around since 9 pm and decided to stay back despite issues with the sound system because he still loved the fans. He then went on a rant claiming his decision to stay back was due to the plea from fellow Nigerian artiste Seyi Vibez.
