Emerging reports indicate that veteran Nollywood actor Junior Pope who was erstwhile reported dead is still alive.
This is as the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Emeka Rollas, via a social media post confirmed that the actor is still alive.
According to the AGN president, Junior Pope is currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
Ojapiano had earlier reported how the veteran Nollywood actor Junior Pope, was confirmed dead alongside three of his other colleagues who were involved in a boat accident while shooting a movie in Delta state.
According to the report which was first shared by a prominent filmmaker, Samuel Olatunji, the actor had alongside three others, died after their boat capsized on the River Niger.
All four victims were reported to have been without a life jacket when the incident happened. According to reports, this accounted for the reason why they could not be rescued even though a few others who had their life jackets on were eventually rescued.
Recall that the actor was earlier caught on camera appealing to the boat rider to reduce his speed while on the surface of the river.
Junior Pope was heard saying that he was the only child of his parents and that he has three children that he has to live to take care of.
He was quoted thus:
“Na only me dem born, bros abeg, na only me dem born. I get three children and na me go raise them, bros abeg, take am small small, I no lie this is a risk”
However, few hours after the news quickly went viral, propelling heartfelt messages from fans and colleagues, the actor was announced alive to be alive
In another video shared by popular Instagram blogger Instablog, a movie producer simply identified as Stanley authoritatively confirmed that Junior Pope is alive.
According to him, the actor has been taken back to the riverside where he reportedly drowned for some rituals to be performed.
He claimed that the rituals were necessary to ensure the safe return of the unconscious veteran actor back to the land of the living as they had been earlier adviced.
Meanwhile, prior to the development, the internet had been filled with eulogies from fans and several other Nollywood actors and actresses.
Ojapiano had reported how Nollywood legend Kanayo O. Kanayo wrote on his social handle, ”The news about Junior Pope can’t be true. Prayer up.”
