The social media fight sparked by the Nigerian music star, Ayodeji Balogun, also known as Wizkid against his colleagues in the industry, especially David Adeleke professionally known as Davido, has heightened.
Recall that Wizkid had earlier thrown a shade at Davido. While responding to a fan’s request on X for new music in the early hours of Monday and also referred to Don Jazzy as an “influencer” while trying to tackle Ladipoe, one of Mavin record’s signees.
How it all started, The Jaiye Jaiye crooner who hardly tweets but has a penchant for posting controversial tweets set X on fire when he tweeted, “Every day I get things to say but my mouth no good”, at exactly 4:28 am on Monday, to which a fan who tweets as @demigadd responded, “Sha release song”, prompting Wizkid to respond with “Na by force.”
The fan responded with “Na by force, biggest bird”. The essence crooner in a bid to make mockery of one of the music giants of Africa, Davido, sent his recently leaked viral video where he was seen on his knees crying and begging someone believed to be a female associate and captioned it “beg me like this”.
In a similar tweet, a fan drew his attention to a recent tweet of Ladipoe which was directed at him. The fan tweeted “Wizkid Ladipo still talk nonsense yesterday o, Abeg enter that one too😂😂😂
Ladipoe earlier wrote “Nigerian rappers that survived ‘hip hop is dead’ watching Afrobeat artists go through their own,”
Wizkid reacting, quickly dismissed the discussion with “lol never chatting to anyone signed to an influencer. Next”
This generated uproar on the micro-blogging platform with many wondering what could be wrong with both men.
However, Davido, on Monday night dropped a series of cryptic tweets believed to be responses to the Ojuelegba crooner.
In one of the tweets, Davido said, “Dem no know your Gbedu”, believed to be aimed at Wizkid who said he would drop his much anticipated Morayo album in May.
Not stopping, the Aiye crooner tweeted, “When light comes, darkness vanishes. Let get active.
Davido also posted a video of his wife, Chioma Adeleke, with the caption, “They were trying to distract us, baby no mind dem”.
Wizkid meanwhile responded with first a dig, tweeting, “U and all ur crew plus ur pant washer songwriter go to sleep at night thinking you got anything on me in music 🤣😂 wish u all well ✌”
He followed it up with another tweet, “U know what..no point. delusional niggas 😇 pray for y’all” which was quoted directly with a response, “WE NOT DELUSIONAL YOU’RE A SICK MAN” by Davido suggesting no love lost between both Afrobeat stars.
The Jaiye Jaiye crooner not holding back, quoted the tweet with the same leaked video of Davido.
The rift between both superstars will come as a surprise to many considering they were recently spotted hugging in a Lagos night club.
Before the club meeting, Wizkid had announced in 2023, plans of a joint tour with his rival.
He took to his Instagram story to announce that the expedition would take place after the tour for his fifth studio album ‘More Love, Less Ego (MLLE)’ which was dropped in mid 2023.
“After my MLLE tour!! Davido and I going on tour! save your coins! I no wan hear him,” he wrote
Regarded as one of Nigeria’s greatest musical exports, the pair’s relationship has most times been frosty.
Don Jazzy on his part didn’t find it worthy exchanging words with Wizkid perhaps, but to show that the whole drama didn’t go well with him, he made a move that sent shockwaves through the digital sphere, he swiftly unfollowed Wizkid on various social media platforms, signaling his disapproval of the singer’s remarks.
As the feud between the three music icons unfolded online, fans were left divided, with many rallying behind Wizkid, some Davido and others Don Jazzy.
Meanwhile, the larger implications of this digital showdown have sparked discussions about the power dynamics within the Nigerian music industry and the role of social media in shaping public perception.
