The Billboard Magazine has tendered an unreserved apology to the phenomenal American singer, Taylor Swift for including a clip that falsely depicted her in a video while attempting to celebrate her achievements.
The top music magazine in an attempt to celebrate the incredible achievement of the pop superstar, Taylor Swift, for ranking No. 2 on their list, included a clip from Kanye West’s music video for the song “Famous.” which contains a line that sparked heated controversy between Swift, West and his ex-wife Kim Kardashian in 2016.
The video portrayed Swift in a negative light, due to the dispute that surrounded it before Swift clarified the misconception behind it.
Billboard while compiling Swift’s music to celebrate her newest achievement, included the clip ignorantly, which made them face severe backlash from Taylor Swift and her fans.
In an attempt to salvage the situation, the music magazine took to their X (formerly known as Twitter) official handle to apologise to Swift and her fans for the inconveniences the blunder most her caused.
They wrote “We are deeply sorry to Taylor Swift and all of our readers and viewers that in a video celebrating Swift’s achievements, we included a clip that falsely depicted her,” the statement reads. “We have removed the clip from our video and sincerely regret the harm we caused with this error.”
