One of the attorneys representing the embattled musical superstar Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has submitted his interest to officially withdraw from handling his sex trafficking case and other scandalous charges levelled against him.
Anthony Ricco tendered a formal request through a Manhattan federal court affidavit, seeking to withdraw from being a legal representative of Diddy, just a few days to the resumption of his trial.
Anthony however, did not specify what prompted his withdrawal from the team of lawyers representing Diddy. His request read:
“Under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs,” Ricco wrote, “It is respectfully but regrettably requested that the court grant the relief requested.”
Anthony Ricco withheld the actual reason that necessitated his withdrawal but giving a tip of the iceberg, he revealed that the decision came after he had a discussion with Diddy’s lead counsel Marc Agnifilo.
As of press time, Ricco’s request was yet to be approved and may likely not be approved if he fails to supply a cogent and satisfactory reason for his withdrawal. The judge must find sufficient reason to approve such a request before Ricco can be relieved from the team.
The embattled rapper Sean ‘Diddy Combs was arrested on Monday, September 17, 2024, at the Park Hyatt Hotel on 57th Street in Manhattan.
He has been in custody since then, preparing for his trial on charges that include sex trafficking, sexual abuse, and racketeering, among others. Earlier in February, Diddy was urgently moved from prison to a hospital, with the late-night transfer carefully orchestrated to avoid drawing the attention of other inmates or prison staff.
The rapper was quickly taken to the hospital for an MRI scan, a noninvasive procedure that uses advanced imaging technology to assess the organs, tissues, and skeletal system. He was reportedly taken back into custody after a few hours and has been waiting for the next date of his trial which is scheduled for May 5, 2025, in Manhattan federal court.
