The singer called in and instead of merely singing a birthday song, he decided to deliver a performance, starting with “When A Woman’s Fed Up” and later moving on to “Step in the Name of Love.” It was a wonderful melodious rendition.

One of the producers started singing along with him and switched to “Bump n’ Grind” which gladdened R Kelly’s heart. Reacting, he said “I appreciate the love, man, “I appreciate you for knowing the words.”

R Kelly was later asked if he still enjoyed singing even while being incarcerated, responding he said, “Well, singing is a beautiful disease that’s incurable,” again he was asked if he would stop singing any time soon and he said,  “That’s not gonna happen, stopping singing.

He continued, I don’t care where I’m at. I’m always singing, I’m always writing. I’ve written, like, 25 albums since I have been in here, and right now I’m just working on getting out… I’m using patience as a tactic right now.”

He further explained how having a positive mindset and being optimistic has helped him through his stay in prison.

Recall that R Kelly was arraigned in 2022 for alleged offences bordering on racketeering and sex trafficking. He was reportedly found guilty and sentenced to 30 years in prison.

A few months later he was again charged with multiple offences including the production of child pornography and enticement of a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity, which landed him another 20 years in prison. He is currently serving the first sentence of 30 years.
