The question of who is prettier between Nigerian singers Ayra Starr and Tems has rapidly transited from being just a topic of discourse to a hot debate especially across social media platforms in Nigeria.
Both singers sparked arguments after Ayra Star shared videos of her recent outing with Tems on Twitter.
The viral video saw the singers link up in a huge and expensive mansion and also saw both of them nicely dressed and catching fun as they filmed themselves to their own delight.
But while they admired their finesses in front of the camera, Nigerians have been triggered to compare who is prettier between the two.
Ayra Starr and Tems both debuted in the industry in 2018 and have since then, continued to raise the bar high, solidifying their place in not just the Nigerian music industry but also in the global music market.
Recall that Tems had in 2022, recorded a resounding collaboration with American rappers Drake and Future after she was invited to feature on Future’s “Wait for you” which debuted at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming her first ever number-one hit on the Hot 100.
Wait for you also peaked within the top 10 of the charts in many other countries, including Canada, United Kingdom and New Zealand, according to reports.
On her part, Ayra Starr who had recently come under heat while being compared with her South African counterpart Tyla, had in 2023 featured on David Guetta’s “Big FU” which also had Lil Durk as a guest artist and debuted on number 18 on the official New Zealand music chart.
Similarly, Ayra Starr’s 19 & Dangerous Deluxe album which was released on 2023 has also reportedly surpassed 500 million streams on the music streaming platform Spotify.
This was made known yesterday via a repost by the singer on X. The original post was however, made by a certain netizen identified as @mamiframes.
The post further highlighted some other achievements that the deluxe album has garnered including its feat of becoming the first most streamed project by a Nigerian female artist, the second most streamed album from a female afrobeats artist and the 3rd most streamed afrobeats project from a female African artist.
Undoubtedly, both Ayra Starr and Tems are pretty with each having her own unique features that stand her out. But of course, beauty they say lies in the eyes of the beholder and therefore, the argument seems to be unending especially on X where everyone tends to be holding firm to their opinions even as the topic is already trending with the name Tems as the keyword.
While several netizens have either reposted the videos or shared fresh pictures of the two Nigerian beauty queens, asking who is prettier, several other persons have taken to the comments section to share their respective opinions.

While these arguments persist, fans are also reminiscing on the days when it used to be Tiwa Savage and Simi on the spotlight as the top female artists in Nigeria. Remarkably, fans are excited that a prior misconception that Nigerian women do not support each other is finally being eroded seeing how much both singers vibed to Ayra Starr’s recent hit song “Commas.”
