The famous BBC presenter and MasterChef host, Gregg Wallace is under thorough investigation over allegations of historical misconduct concerning inappropriate sexual behaviour among co-staff.
Over 13 people who have worked with Gregg said he has been sexually abusing junior staff and often makes inappropriate sexual comments and jokes during filming. This has lasted for over 17 years, according to the reports.
Consequently, the BBC and Masterchef’s production company Banijay UK have asked him to step aside while conducting a thorough investigation into the matter to ascertain its authenticity.
Among the plethora of accusations against Gregg Wallace include “talking openly about his sex life, taking his top off in front of a female worker saying he wanted to ‘give her a fashion show’, and telling a junior female colleague he was not wearing any boxer shorts under his jeans”.
However, Gregg’s lawyer has debunked the accusations saying that “it is entirely false that he engages in behaviour of a sexually harassing nature”. He claims all the allegations are made-up stories against his client.
As the event unfolds, a lot of testimonies have surfaced to substantiate the accusation against the MasterChef host. Among the notable testifiers include Kristy Wark, who is best known for hosting BBC Newsnight.
She narrated her experience with Wallace and said, on two occasions, during early morning filming, he told stories and jokes of a “sexualised nature” in front of contestants and crew members, which she said was “really, really in the wrong place”. She described her overall experience there as “fantastic” but added that the only “fly in the ointment, on occasion, was Gregg Wallace.”
Another testifier, a male colleague who worked on MasterChef between 2005 and 2006 said that Wallace regularly said sexually explicit things while they were on set. Also, a female worker on the same show said that Wallace often talks about his sex life, while another said that he loves staring at her chest.
Celebrities slam Gregg Wallace amid investigation of sexual misconduct
Singer Rod Stewart reacting to the development on Thursday described Gregg Wallace as an “ill-mannered bully” and claimed that the presenter “humiliated” his wife in 2021 when she was on the MasterChef Show. ‘You’re a tubby, bald-headed, ill-mannered bully. Karma got ya.” Sir Rod Stewart.
Charlotte Crosby who once contested on the MasterChef celebrity series said that Gregg Wallace was ‘extremely unpleasant’ while she was on the BBC show.
Ulrika Jonsson, a Swedish-born TV personality recounted that Gregg Wallace once had to tender an apology after making a ‘rape joke’ which made one of the MasterChef contestants become ‘really distressed.’.
More celebrities, his co-staff and others who had an encounter with him have continued to register their opinion on the matter. While a few external persons opined that a thorough unbiased investigation be conducted before conclusions be made. They hold the opinion that Gregg Wallace may not be guilty as it appears, because nobody among the alleged victims has spoken out for the past 17 years in which they claimed the inappropriate misconducts have lingered.
