Amidst the controversy and exchange of words between Nigerian music superstars Wizkid and Davido on X last Monday, a tweep identified as Oyebanji Akins has alleged that Wizkid is jealous of his contemporary Davido.
In a post thread on X, Akins stated that Wizkid’s jealousy was rooted in his lack of trust in people and that he only trusted his late mother who recently passed away. The tweep also stated that the singer’s trust issues began after he left Banky W’s EME record aggrieved in 2014.
Recall that Wizkid left EME records following the release of his second studio album “Ayo” and the expiration of his contract with the record label.
In an interview sequel to his exit from the record label, the singer, while speaking to Capital Xtra in October 2019, alleged that he left EME records without any money.
Akins’ analysis thus presents Wizkid as profoundly impacted by the demise of his mother who he says the singer continually talks about in his songs because she was the only one he trusted.
The tweep categorically stated that Wizkid is furthermore jealous of his contemporary Davido because Davido has found a confidant in his wife, Chioma whereas he (Wizkid) does not have any one that close to him. He also stated that this was to the a great extent, one of the reason why the singer likes to pick on Davido all the time.
He further referenced a recent post by Israel DMW which alleged that someone has previously warned Davido and his team about Wizkid stating that he was not to be trusted for friendship.
Akins wrote:
“Since the moment Banky W made Wizkid pay before leaving EME, it’s been clear that Wizkid has never, and I don’t think he will ever, trust anyone except his mother.
“Check his past songs, and you’ll see how he praises his mom. But when his mom died, till date Wizkid has been expressing all the pain he was holding back. Can you blame him? No. But one of the reasons he chooses Davido more when he throws shades is nothing more than the happiness he can sense Davido has with Chioma. Tell me, who does Wizkid have?
“Before you react, this is not fact, it’s just an observation based on what you and I can research online for more clarification.
“Isreal said someone warned them not to trust Wizkid, but did he explain why he felt Wizkid is not to be trusted? Wizkid left EME with zero, without talking about the full story till date.
“Banky W has done many interviews saying he doesn’t understand why Wizkid didn’t come to his wedding. Bro, you broke the heart of a young man with great talent.
“My focus is on partners and mothers in the lives of most Nigerian celebrities. Davido was lucky to have Chioma, which is why Wizkid will always come for him. How many of you remember the relationship of PSquare? The moment they lost their mom, their brotherly love broke till date.
“So, would you blame Wizkid for ranting online? He’s alone, no one he can trust.”
